Man Utd defender wants to force through Old Trafford exit

Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian wants to leave the club the summer.

Darmian is subject to interest from Champions League finalists Juventus, who have agreed to terminate the contract  Brazilian full back Dani Alves, who is expected to move to Manchester City.

According to The Sun, the Italian has phoned Jose Mourinho personally to try to ensure that a move back to his homeland is completed.

Manchester United are believed to be willing to let Darmian leave for around £17.5m this summer after having what was a mixed bag of a season for the defender.

The article claims that the deal to the former Torino would initially be on a season long loan, before the move is made permanent next summer, representing a £5m profit on what they signed him for two-years ago.

At times, the Italian was almost at the bottom of the Manchester United defensive pecking order, but fought his way back into contention towards the end of the season, playing many games at left-back. The season culminated in a fantastic performance in the Europa League final, probably his best in a Manchester United shirt to date.
